Two winners and two seconds made for a profitable day. Toss in the winner of the Phoenix (G3), Wise Dan, that I tweeted at http://twitter.com/racehorsereport and it was super! Let’s hope Saturday brings more of the same.

1st) HONDO SCORES showed speed in a maiden allowance race at Mountaineer in his racing debut last month. He drops into a spot for the action this afternoon and will be ridden by the stable’s “go-to-guy,” Jesus Castanon. He’ll be a square price too.

2nd) KNIGHT SHOT runs best when patiently ridden. He finds a good spot here, where his contending speed should find him in the right spot turning for home.

5th) With virtually no early speed entered here, SUCCESSFUL DAN looks like he can take this field “flag-fall to that’s all.” His sharp second to the classy Gayego at Presque Isle Downs showed his class and he already has a win over the Keeneland Poly.

11th) PERREGAUX had a rough trip in his first two-turn turfer at Saratoga. The Neil Howard trainee might have needed that race and should be set for his best effort this afternoon.
